I received word last week from Brendan O'Reilly, editor of the Southampton Patch, that the Town Board of Southampton had decided to not move forward with a hearing in regards to a plastic bag ban in the town.
Back in March of this year, Southampton Village Trustees had decided to schedule a hearing with respect to the local law on retail checkout bags. Southampton Advocates for our Village Environment (SAVE) was urging the Board of Trustees to ban single-use bags in the Village of Southampton. (See related: SAVE Urges Bag Ban)
The Village of Southampton is located in Suffolk County, New York, USA, on the southern fork of Long Island. SAVE is the Village’s Environmental Committee.
